The world is warming, these facts are not disputed... The problem that we are going to run into is the "snowball effect". This is basically the idea that as the world warms it melts more snow... This snow used to reflect the heat from the sun, but now the much darker ground or water absorbs more of the suns heat... This increases global warming... More snow melt = faster warming... The same goes for melting permafrost. All of this permafrost that is melting contains methane gas which is a greenhouse gas just like carbon dioxide. As the world warms, it releases more and more trapped methane gas from the permafrost which only make global warming accelerate even more. More permafrost melt = More methane = faster warming. If we don't act quickly we will be past the point of no return, that is if we haven't passed it already...
